As we complete preparations for CONVERGE 2022 next month in St. Louis, it’s a wonderful time to take a step back and look at the progress NADP has made this past year. Thanks to our resolute, talented volunteers, NADP has made significant contributions to our industry and association. NADP is fortunate to have 364 volunteers serving in 603 roles. On top of that we have an additional 82 members serving in Member Interest Groups (MIGs). On behalf of the Board of Directors, I commend all our volunteers for their outstanding work in the advancement of our mission to improve consumer access to affordable, quality dental care through advocacy, research, and the promotion of dental benefits.

NADP is encouraging our members to take advantage of our voting seat on the ADA Code Maintenance Committee by filing proposals via the NADP Codes Sub-WorkGroup (SWG) by Aug. 31, so they can be considered for submission as industry consensus proposals.
Read MoreOn July 7, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the proposed rule “Medicare and Medicaid Programs: The calendar Year 2023 Payment Policies under the Physician Fee Schedule and Other Changes to Part B Payment Policies, Medicare Shared Savings Program Requirements, etc.” (CMS-1770-P), which sets the reimbursement rates to medical providers for the Medicare program. The proposed rule includes an expansion of dental coverage under Medicare Part B for “medically necessary dental and oral health services,” which are related to transplant procedures or a chronic medical condition.

Read MoreOn June 15, the Massachusetts Court of Justice upheld the Attorney General’s certification of ballot initiative 21-13, “Initiative Petition for a Law to Implement Medical Loss Ratios for Dental Benefit Plans,” which would establish an 83% loss ratio requirement for dental plans in Massachusetts. The state Legislature will now confirm the ballot initiative and present it to the state’s voters during the Nov. general election.
