ADA Code Maintenance Committee (CMC)
In March, NADP Deputy Executive Director Timothy L. Brown represented the dental benefits industry during the American Dental Association’s Code Maintenance Committee (CMC) meeting. The committee reviewed and voted on CDT Code Action and Editorial Requests for potential inclusion in CDT 2026 with over 60 changes adopted. SNOMED International
To support the advancement of diagnostic terminology, Timothy L. Brown also represented NADP at the SNOMED International conference in Oslo, Norway on April 7-10. Key discussions included updates to periodontal and general dentistry reference sets, revisions of endodontic terms, and the introduction of a new concept for “final procedures.” For more insights, see the latest edition of Terminology Talk.
National Dental EDI Council (NDEDIC)
NADP Executive Director Mike Adelberg attended the NDEDIC Annual Summit, April 14-16 in Dallas, Texas. A conference highlight was the determination of NDEDIC to examine and potentially establish a national set of fields and definitions for All-Payer Claims Database (APCD) submissions—aimed at influencing specification adoption in states that have yet to implement standards.

NADP Executive Director Mike Adelberg and Government Relations Director Biance Balale spoke at the Delta Dental Plan Association’s annual meetings in Huntington Beach, California. Adelberg partnered with Delta Dental of California’s Jeff Album to discuss the potential challenges posed by the federal government on current Adult Dental Essential Health Benefit policy; Balale, partnered by Delta Dental of Washington’s Sean Pickard and AHIP’s Owen Urech, to discuss industry collaboration and successful advocacy strategies deployed this year in Washington State.
