On Oct. 15, CMS announced it completed the review process for the Georgia Access Model ACA Section 1332 waiver and approved it. The waiver ends the use of the Federally Facilitated Exchange (FFE) in Georgia and creates a reinsurance program for qualified health plans. In the absence of a centralized exchange, plans and brokers will assume expanded roles in marketing, IT, and re-enrollment.

The medical maximum out-of-pocket (MOOP) is indexed annually per the ACA, while the dental MOOP was initiated within HHS regulations and is not tied to a formula and therefore remains stagnant. DDPA has proposed a formula which ties correlates any dental MOOP change to the dental services CPI provided by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics with increases set at increments of $25 per child.
