By Board Chair Jeremy Hedrick, Careington International

From the annual meeting with the American Dental Association (ADA) to the roll out of the CONVERGE 2021 agenda, progress on the strategic plan, and everything in between, NADP continued to serve our members and add value to your membership during the month of May.

ADA Meeting

Our collaborative relationship with the ADA continues to offer important insights and identify areas where we can work together to advance the dental industry. At this year’s meeting, ADA and NADP members shared their experiences, observations and challenges regarding return to work following the pandemic. ADA members noted Dental offices experience 80% of usual patient volume due to limited capacity and new procedures related to COVID and PPE. Meanwhile plans reported increased utilization of dental benefits.

Additional topics covered:

  • Plans to restructure CDT
  • Administrative simplification regarding credentialing and benefits verification
  • Progress of CAQH credentialing solution
  • Dental in Medicare

Strategic Plan Development

NADP continues to progress in the development of the next strategic plan. Recently Board members and the Strategic Planning Steering Committee discussed mission statement, vision and values in addition to scenario planning. The next step will be a review of high-level initiatives, operational plans and volunteer group mission statements by the Board, Steering Committee and volunteer group chairs and vice chairs.

CONVERGE Content

NADP recently announced a robust schedule of educational content for CONVERGE 2021. View the schedule on the event microsite, NADPCONVERGE.ORG for details.

NADPPAC Event

I recently participated in the NADPAC event for Sen. Patty Murray and found the experience worthwhile. Sen. Murray is chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee (HELP). For more info about PAC, contact NADP Executive Director Eme Augustini.

Nominating Committee

The Board also appointed the Nominating Committee chaired by Dr. Mary Lee Conicella, Aetna, with members Jeff Album, Delta Dental of CA, NY, PA & Affiliates and Sue Wright, Lincoln Financial.

In addition to the above initiatives, the NADP advocacy team continues to represent our industry on state and national issues. Check out the Advocacy section of the newsletter for details.
