This month, NADP submitted comments
in support of a Texas Sunset Commission Report on the State Board of
Dental Examiners (TSBDE) and in particular, the Report’s Issue 1
findings regarding the TSBDE’s inappropriate focus on regulating
dentists’ contracts with Dental Support Organizations (DSOs). The
Commission is charged with assessing the continuing need for state
agencies and programs and to also consider an agency’s compliance with
legislative policies.
The Commission accepted public comments before a June 23 hearing where they considered the TSBDE along with nine other state and regulatory agencies.
The comment
period was an opportunity for NADP and other stakeholders to reinforce
support for Dental Support Organizations (DSOs) and their role in
helping to ensure access to care in Texas.
