2024 NADP CONSORTIUM PILOT PROGRAM
The goal of the Consortium is to prepare dental plans to mitigate the impact of potential new MLR requirements.
NADP is thrilled to announce the new, upcoming NADP Consortium Pilot Program, which is set to launch in 2024. NADP is partnering with Milliman on this initiative. The NADP Consortium is a pilot program of NADP in which participating dental plans will work together to achieve a common objective. This will differ from traditional NADP educational programming in that it is focused on real-time problem-solving and interactive learning built on common activity and pooled resources.
Why is NADP offering a consortium?
- Medical plan trade associations widely use the consortium concept to offer additional, granular services the members need on an opt-in basis.
- It will provide dental plan members with practical, hands-on educational opportunities addressing critical industry needs.
- It expands educational opportunities for NADP member plans.
- It diversifies NADP’s non-dues revenue, thus providing additional services without dues increases.
What are the benefits?
- Individually purchasing consulting services for topics covered in the consortium could cost more than $200,000. Participating in the consortium is a money-saver for participants who still need to prepare for MLR requirements fully.
- The consortium is designed to help participating members prepare for and manage the impacts of MLR – the most significant emerging challenge for dental plans.
- Learning from and networking with peers with similar concerns.
- Customized instruction and advice from experts (e.g., examples of quality improvement activities and call center scripts that explain rebates).
- Real-time problem-solving based on actual member needs.
Who can attend?
- NADP Dental Plan Members from companies that have purchased a consortium membership (registration).
- Outside experts will participate in individual sessions.
What are the key learning objectives?
- The nuts and bolts of MLR reporting.
- Documentation/development of “Quality Improvement Activities” that improve MLR.
- Consideration of operational trade-offs that lower administrative costs and improve MLR.
- Modeling product design changes to meet MLR requirements.
- Developing the operational capacity to issue rebates
- Communicating with members, brokers, and network providers about MLR
- Contracting implications of MLR requirements
What can I plan to leave with if I attend?
- Tools and templates for use by your dental plan
- Practical advice to create effective policies and procedures on MLR.
- Expert advice that applies to multiple areas of your dental plan
- Contacts with peers at other plans tackling the same issues.
How can I participate?
- The NADP Consortium Pilot Program is set to launch early in 2024, starting on March 20. The cost to participate is $5,000 per company, which gives any company employee access to the consortium sessions and material. Your company must be an NADP Dental Plan member to qualify. Your company must be paid in full in order to participate.
