Adams New 2016 IHTSDO Rep

The NADP Board of Directors recently named Dr. Roger Adams as the association’s new representative to the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organisation (IHTSDO), beginning in 2016. IHTSDO holds conference calls every other month and will hold a spring meeting in Wellington, New Zealand.

Dr. Adams is the 2004 NADP Gabryl Award recipient who brings diverse academic and clinical expertise to this position, including knowledge in

  • Regulatory Compliance (OSHA, HIPAA, Infection Control)
  • Strategic Planning (Practice Mission & Objectives, Market Assessment, Implementation)
  • Business & Marketing (Plan Designs for Healthcare Professionals)
  • eBusiness Solutions (Application of Technology for Healthcare Professionals)
  • School-based oral health education and prevention
  • Health Care Terminology

Highlights of Dr. Adams career include two separate dental specialty training programs, Oral Pathology (MS – Washington University) and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (Mayo Clinic) as well as a fellowship in Radiology at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology. In addition, he completed an MBA from the University of Phoenix and maintained a private maxillofacial surgery practice and oral pathology laboratory from 1983-1997 in Salt Lake City. He was VP of Professional Relations & Business Development for Anthem BCBS Dental & Vision Specialty Company 1997-2003, VP of Business Development for Dental Select 2003-2009 and CEO/President, Sealants for Smiles 2007-2015.
