Research Department Expands Focus to External Audience

The NADP Research Department added two important initiatives to explore barriers to value-based care and the early impacts of medical loss ratio regulations in Massachusetts.

Value-Based Care

In the summer, NADP partnered with HealthScape Advisors and the CareQuest Institute for Oral Health to conduct a first-ever market survey and qualitative interviews of dental payers and multisite dental providers. The published research, Pathway to Value, assessed perspectives on, and experience with, value-based dental care models.

MLR

To gain insight into the early impacts on consumers, employers, and dental providers resulting from the Massachusetts loss ratio law, NADP partnered with the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the University of Chicago. NORC interviewed dental insurance brokers and Massachusetts NADP members. In the spring, NADP published the NORC Report: Early Impacts of the Minimum Medical Loss Ratio for Dental Plans in Massachusetts: Perspectives of Dental Plans & Dental Brokers, Spring 2024
