NADP On the Move – 2025 recap

NADP closed out the year representing the unique voice of the dental benefits industry to key stakeholder organizations.

Meetings

3rd Annual: Medicare Advantage Supplemental Benefits that Drive Outcomes

At the Medicare Advantage Supplemental Benefits that Drive Outcomes conference in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Nov. 5-6., NADP Executive Director Mike Adelberg spoke about Medicare Advantage supplemental benefits. Adelberg presented on the Medicare Advantage dental benefits landscape and facilitated a panel with the dental benefit purchasers from two Medicare Advantage plans.

X12

At the X12 Fall Meeting, Sept. 28-Oct. 3, Dental Informatics Director Brian Flynn ensured dental plans were considered during the development of electronic transaction standards, including the advancement of the 8060 version.

X12 is the ANSI-accredited standards body that defines and maintains EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) transaction sets used across many industries — including health care and dental.

The “008060” version represents the latest revision of the implementation guides governing HIPAA-mandated health-care EDI transactions. During 2025, X12 published the new 008060 versions of all the HIPAA-mandated implementation guides. They are not yet adopted by CMS, and the dental industry is currently operating with the 005010 version of the transaction sets.

The meeting was held in Greenville, South Carolina.

NCOIL

Director of Government Relations Bianca Balale advanced the interests of the dental benefits industry during the recent National Conference of Insurance Legislators Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, Nov. 12-15. The NCOIL Transparency in Dental Benefits Contracting Model Act continued to be a top NADP priority. The model act includes provisions on network leasing, virtual credit cards and prior authorization.

Dental Quality Alliance (DQA)

Deputy Executive Director Timothy L. Brown participated virtually in the DQA Executive Committee and full Committee meetings on November 13-14, 2025 representing the payor perspective in the development of additional DQA measures and future work of the DQA.
