NADP staff hosted
a conference call with the authors of the latest ADA Health Policy
Institute’s (HPI) Research Brief “Including Child Dental Benefits in
Medical Plans in California Had Limited Impact on Premiums.” NADP
questioned their terminology and general conclusions that were drawn
from limited data. HPI agreed some of their footnotes could be clearer
and acknowledged our concern regarding the report’s generalized
conclusions based on limited California data. The NADP Executive
Committee is considering forwarding our concerns to the ADA Council on
Dental Benefit Programs regarding this specific report and any future
research and analysis on dental benefits and affordability.
