House Energy and Commerce Committee Launches Investigation in Insurance Industry Profits

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman, Frank Pallone (D-NJ), announced that he would launch an investigation into health and dental insurance companies’ business practices following reports of higher profit margins, particularly for health insurance companies, during the COVID-19 pandemic. NADP has been in close contact with the Committee staff and plans to submit a letter in response to the Committee’s questions which provides context on the financial picture for the dental industry in 2020, highlights the myriad actions that dental carriers are taking to assist consumers and the community during this pandemic, and explains the key differences between medical and dental plans. NADP’s response will be shared with membership upon submission.
