Food banks nationwide benefit from $130,000 United Concordia Dental Charitable Fund donation
CAMP HILL, Pa. (Dec. 9, 2025) — Food banks in nine U.S. states are receiving $130,000 — up to $10,000 each — from the United Concordia Dental Charitable Fund to help individuals struggling with food insecurity.
According to Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap study released in 2025, 100% of counties and congressional districts in the United States are home to people facing hunger. The report also found that 86% of counties with the highest food insecurity, a condition where at least one household member lacks access to enough food due to limited money or other resources, are rural and more than 2 out of 5 people facing hunger are unlikely to qualify for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
“Strong communities start with healthy individuals, and nutrition is a pivotal building block for achieving optimal oral and overall health,” said Ed Shellard, DMD, president and CEO, United Concordia Dental. “With more families facing food insecurity, many are turning to food banks for help. Our annual contribution supports these organizations in their work to combat hunger and expand food access, nourishing the health of the people and neighborhoods where we live and work.”
