2006 Professional Biography

Karen Gustin has held various NADP leadership positions and expanded NADP’s research program to include cooperative projects with LIMRA and DDPA.  She was appointed to an unexpired term on the NADP Board of Directors in 2002 and was elected to the 3-year term in 2003.  As a member of the Board, she served as the 2004 Nominating Committee Chair and is currently the Secretary for the NADP Foundation.  She also has served as Chair of the Statistical Task force in 2000 and 2003-2006 and PAC Chair in 2001-2002.  In addition, she has been a member of the Public Relations Committee in 1999 and the Government Relations Commission in 2000-2001.

At Ameritas, Karen was elected Vice President of Group Marketing and Managed Care in 2000.  She is responsible for group communications, advertising, product development, market research, training, and PPO functions.

Karen began her career at Ameritas in 1983 as a dental claim examiner trainee.  Four months later she was promoted to actuarial technician.  Subsequent positions have included group representative trainee, group marketing assistant, group marketing coordinator, director-managed care, and manager-group managed care.  In 1995 she was promoted to Assistant Vice President, Marketing and Managed Care.

She is an active volunteer in a variety of organizations including the American Marketing Association, the National Health Underwriters, the Lincoln Association of Health Underwriters and the Lincoln Partners Board of Directors.
