Arlington, Va. – Dominion National, a leading
dental and vision insurer and administrator headquartered in Arlington,
Va., is extending teledentistry coverage indefinitely to help ensure
members have convenient access to virtual dental exams.
Dominion’s coverage will apply to in-network
teledentistry consultations for limited, problem-focused evaluations.
Any teledentistry services provided will count toward applicable benefit
frequency limitations.
Dominion first extended teledentistry benefits in March 2020 to help ensure access to dental care during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Even with the majority of dental offices now open
for non-emergency treatment, there are still customers who are
apprehensive about returning to the dentist during the pandemic,” said
Dominion President Mike Davis. “While not a replacement for in-person
dental treatment, teledentistry is a convenient way to help maintain a
happy and healthy smile in between regularly scheduled dental
appointments. We are pleased to extend this benefit to our customers to
help keep them engaged with their oral health.”
Davis, a strong advocate for teledentistry, serves
on the American Teledentistry Association Advisory Board and has
presented at several conferences on the rise and benefits of
teledentistry.
