Oral Health America Announces $50,000 Challenge Grant from Ivoclar Vivadent

Nov 01, 2017
CHICAGO, November 1, 2017 — Oral Health America (OHA) has received a $50,000 challenge grant from Ivoclar Vivadent in support of its Older Adult campaign, Leading by Living.
A part of OHA’s Campaign for Oral Health Equity, which educates the public about the critical relationship between good oral health and good overall health while stimulating action by communities regarding their oral health, Leading by Living challenges older adults to lead healthy lives through healthier mouths.
With one out of every four 65-year-old expected to live past age 90, education about self-care and aging in place (remaining in one’s home) is of utmost importance. Older adults educate those around them just by being; this campaign seeks to explore that role and those relationships while teaching the importance of oral health to overall health.
“We are grateful for Ivoclar Vivadent’s continued support to Oral Health America,” said Beth Truett, President & CEO of Oral Health America. “Thanks to their commitment to older adults and their caregivers through Leading by Living as well as OHA’s Wisdom Tooth Project®, we are fulfilling our mission of elevating health literacy for older Americans through our website, our Tooth Wisdom®: Get Smart About Your Mouth community workshops and through community demonstration projects, to which Ivoclar has been committed for more than seven years.”
Ivoclar Vivadent’s challenge grant affords OHA the opportunity to double the impact of their gift by generating a total of $100,000 in this year-end season of giving. This opportunity will be open to donors throughout the campaign which runs throughout November and December.

As well as being a longtime sponsor of all of OHA programs and the Annual Gala and Benefit, Ivoclar has taken a particular interest in furthering the development OHA’s Wisdom Tooth Project, which aims to change the lives of older adults especially vulnerable to oral disease.

OHA’s mission is to change lives by connecting communities with resources to drive access to care, increase health literacy and advocate for policies that improve overall health through better oral health for all Americans, especially those most vulnerable. Through Smiles Across America®, which serves 501,000 children annually, the Wisdom Tooth Project®, which reaches tens of thousands of older adults, and the Campaigns for Oral Health Equity, which prioritize oral health alongside other chronic diseases, OHA helps Americans of all ages to have a healthy mouth and to understand the importance of oral health for overall health.
