Delta Dental of Missouri, a nonprofit provider of dental health benefits, has named William Peters as its new chief operating officer.

Peters succeeds Pam Martin, who plans to retire in February next year after 42 years with the St. Louis-based organization. Peters is working alongside Martin during the transition period, officials said, and will take over customer service and claims operations early next year for Delta Dental of Missouri and affiliates.

Peters most recently was senior executive vice president of Letco Medical, a national pharmaceutical distribution and repackaging company. Prior to that, he was general manager of Omnicare and held executive posts with ICP Medical and Express Scripts.

Delta Dental of Missouri, led by President and CEO Rob Goren, provides employer-sponsored and individual consumer dental benefits to more than 1.8 million members in Missouri and South Carolina. The nonprofit reported revenue of $507.4 million and expenses of $501. 9 million for its fiscal year ended Dec. 31, 2014, according to its most recent available IRS filing.
