As the representative and recognized voice of the dental benefits industry, NADP advanced your positions among key stakeholders and the media throughout 2019. Following are December highlights and a 2019 summary. December Meetings Canadian Dental Association NADP’s Director of Research, Jerry Berggren, spoke to the Canadian Dental Association’s Meeting of CEOs and Registrars about the U.S. data-sf-ec-immutable=””> Benefits market in New Orleans on Dec. 5. It was a great opportunity to compare and contrast how dental benefits work on both sides of the border.
NCOIL NADP Executive Director Eme Augustini and State Affairs Manager Artur Bagyants represented the dental benefits industry at the recent National Conference of Insurance Legislators meeting in Austin, Texas. Augustini submitted testimony on a proposed network leasing model legislation.
IAEE EXPO EXPO At the International Association of Exhibitions and Events conference, EXPO, EXPO, Dec. 3-5 in Las Vegas, NADP staff engaged in professional development to gain insight into providing attendees and exhibitors with the ultimate conference experience. Attendees included Administrative Director Shayne Leatherwood, Director of Meeting and Events Jeremy May and Associate Director of Communications and Technology Lauren Oakley.
Staff OFFSITE Retreat Gratitude, support, learning, and planning were the name of the game for NADP’s staff offsite retreat on Dec. 16. Thank you, Rhonda Greenstreet and Jon Seltenheim for facilitating, to Careington International Corporation for hosting us (Valerie Bostrom, Kris Virgin, Jeremy Hedrick) and to the NADP Board of Directors and membership for your ongoing support. Our team building (really, team flourishing) wouldn’t have been possible without you all.

Media Highlights Associated Press – NADP Executive Director Evelyn F. Ireland, CAE, was quoted an AP article, “No dental insurance? Discount plans can provide savings,” written by reporter Matthew Perone. This article also appears in the March 14 edition of NADP SmartBrief. Surgeon General’s Report 2020 –Drawing from the vast resources of the association’s research, NADP contributed content regarding the impact of dental benefits on financing dental care. Newsy –NADP Executive Director Evelyn F. Ireland, CAE, answered the question, “Why are dental benefits separate from medical” in a recent Newsy interview. The Fresno Bee – Reporter Yesenia Amaro interviewed Executive Director Evelyn F. Ireland, CAE, regarding dental benefit enrollment trends in California. Sacramento Bee – Reporter Amaro, Yesenia interviewed NADP Executive Director Evelyn F. Ireland, CAE, regarding Californians who lack dental insurance. AIA Press Release – The NADP press release, “Dental Plan Leaders Urge Congress to Improve Access to Dental Coverage via Medicare and Marketplaces,” appeared in multiple District of Columbia metro publications with a potential reach of 34,722,204. Publications included the Washington Post; the Washington Post Online, Kiplinger’s; The Atlantic, USA Today, the AARP Bulletin and The Economist. Incisor – Reporter Emma Yasinski interviewed NADP Executive Director Evelyn F. Ireland, CAE, regarding Medicaid expansion and dental benefits. Incisor is an online publication for dentists. Employee Benefit Advisor –NADP Executive Director Evelyn F. Ireland, CAE was quoted in the article, “How literate are your clients on dental care?” by Bruce Shutand. Ireland highlighted findings from the current NADP Consumer Survey. |
