Dental Director – Nevada (May 15-June 15)

Are you seeking a new challenge in your career?  Perhaps you are a practicing dentist who wants to take your career in a new direction? LIBERTY Dental Plan has an exciting opportunity for a Dental Director to join our growing company in our Las Vegas office.

The ideal candidate will have oversight responsibility of LIBERTY Dental Plan of Nevada’s Quality Management and Improvement Programs. By collaborating with other corporate Dental Directors you will develop clinical guidelines and quality management improvement processes.You will perform clinical review of claims, pre-estimates and specialty care referrals, grievance and appeal reviews, on-site chart review for the Nevada DHMO network, and backup for review for the CA Dental Directors.  You will also actively participate in the Utilization/Credentialing/Quality Management committees.

  • Identify potentially unnecessary services and care delivery settings, and recommend alternatives if appropriate by analyzing clinical protocols.
  • Examine clinical programs information to identify members for specific case management and/or disease management activities or interventions by utilizing established screening criteria.
  • Use clinical expertise to manage the clinical model, providing dental interpretation and decisions as required.

Qualifications:

  • Requires dental consultant experience with min. 5 years as a practicing dentist preferred.
  • Experience including review of claims, pre-estimates, referrals, familiar with benefits from the plans perspective.
  • Requires knowledge of community standards of oral health care delivery and dental care benefit administration.
  • Prefer a current, valid, unrestricted license to practice dentistry in Nevada, but not required
  • Basic computer skills on Microsoft Office.
  • Thorough understanding of the delivery of dental managed care, preferred
  • Knowledge of managed care delivery systems, reimbursement mechanisms, quality improvement initiatives, and cost reduction methods.
  • Ability to manage personnel.
  • Ability to create solutions to specific problems, analyze major objectives and break them down into meaningful actions steps for others to follow.
  • Project management skills with ability to create and implement plans.
  • Ability to travel overnight.

Claims Manager – Las Vegas (May 15-June 15) 

LIBERTY Dental Plan has an exciting opportunity for a Claims Manager to join our growing company. Reporting to the Director of Claims in Irvine, California, the Claims Manager for the Las Vegas office will be responsible for the daily management of the Claims department. Oversee daily workflow and productivity, meet the department’s business goals and objectives, and collaborate with the Irvine management staff.

  • Manage staff:   determine staffing needs, set goals, interview, select, coach and evaluate performance of approximately 7-10 employees
  • Plan and oversee work assignments and recommend staff adjustment
  • Ensure staff is properly trained and assist in developing written training materials and procedures
  • Participate in developing and implementing enhancements and new processes and methods within the claims program
  • Maintain, publish and communicate detailed operations metrics
  • Deal with complex claim issues
  • Examine and approve cases handled by department supervisors and ensure prompt and accurate processing of claims
  • Collaborate with senior leadership,  local and central office management
  • Communicate, implement, and monitor compliance of company policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of managerial experience, highly preferred in a claims management or related area
  • 3 years of business experience in the insurance industry
  • 2 years of dental office experience preferred
  • Associate Degree or professional and technical experience equivalent preferred
  • Requires proficiency with US English
  • Effective conflict management
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and multi-tasking
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with all levels of staff
  • Ability to be discreet and confidential related to all projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Advanced analytical skills for reporting and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet objectives

This position will perform risk assessments, account level rate development, rate reviews, customer negotiations, build customized plans and make recommendations focused on attaining profitable growth. The Underwriter will also partner with the Sales department and deliver customer presentations.

Qualifications:         

  • Minimum of five (5) years of health care underwriting (dental experience helpful).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency with advanced Excel. Knowledge of computer applications used in rating process.
  • Related experience including in-depth rating, product and financial knowledge.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Product Manager Consultant – Specialty Benefits (April 12 - June 12)

This position is ideally located in San Francisco, however Woodland Hills or Costa Mesa are potential work locations.

Responsible for Dental Insurance product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision and working closely with internal departments and external partners to ensure financial, membership and customer satisfaction goals are met.
Ensures product pipeline supports the company's overall strategy and goals by improving product development capability and reducing development cycle time and costs.

This is the advanced product manager level serving as the lead product development specialist to a large/complex Dental Insurance product portfolio. Consider subject matter expert in both product management capabilities and functional capabilities by market segment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses market trends, customer needs and product capability to identify new product opportunities.
  • Creates product lifecycle vision to maximize membership growth and retention objectives.
  • Defines product strategy and roadmap for a large, complex product or products in a LOB segment.
  • Leads the business case development/ROI analysis, feasibility, price modeling to provide new product recommendations to sr. management.
  • Leads large, complex cross-functional teams in developing and implementing new products to differentiate BSC from competitors.
  • Assists in developing the core positioning and messaging for product implementation.
  • Designs new tools, processes and systems to improve internal product development capabilities.
  • Provides research and product design expertise to product implementation teams

Education/Requirements:

  • Requires a BA/BS in Business, Finance, Economics, Healthcare or Public Health.
  • Graduate course is highly desirable.

  • Extensive knowledge of product management /strategic planning concepts and practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Dental products and industry trends.

This individual will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing and summarizing legislative and regulatory activities nationwide. Responsibilities include utilizing research tools to comprehensively track all legislative and regulatory developments, identify those items which are enacted or adopted, and analyze and summarize the applicable elements of these laws and regulations that have direct impact on the company’s operations.  

Specific duties include:

  • Monitor and track health insurance legislative and regulatory activity in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
  • Prepare analysis of pertinent enacted legislation and/or adopted regulations.
  • Prepare legislative status reports on legislation of potential impact on the company’s operations.
  • Assist with development of talking points and white papers on legislative issues impacting the company.
  • Participate in activities with associations on legislation of significant interest to the company.
  • In conjunction with Government Relations staff, assist with grassroots activities such as letter writing campaigns, etc.
  • Works to understand complex company structure and evaluation of applicability of laws and regulations.
  • Maintain the department Sharepoint site.

Ideal candidate will have:

  • BA/BS degree.
  • Minimum 2-3 years similar experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Legal research experience in the health insurance industry required, including familiarity with LEXIS.
  • Proficient in non-legal research, including the use of Internet services and other factual research.
  • Working knowledge of state government legislative and regulatory process.
  • Knowledge and application of English grammar and strong composition, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills; ability to articulate thoughts and communicate effectively for results.
  • Must be detailed-oriented and have strong initiative and demonstrated organizational planning and project management skills required.
  • Understanding of insurance products and regulation.
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills to evaluate business processes and recommend effective solutions.
  • Proven ability to facilitate issue identification and resolution between internal and external parties and lead cross functional teams.
